About This Place

Located in the vibrant heart of Dallas at 3411 Asbury St, New York Sub is a standout sandwich shop that delivers an authentic and delicious East Coast deli experience far from the Big Apple. Celebrated for its mouthwatering subs and hot dogs crafted with fresh, quality ingredients, this spot has earned its reputation as a must-visit for sandwich enthusiasts craving genuine flavor and satisfying portions.

From the moment you bite into their signature Italian Sub to savoring the smoky and tender layers of their Chopped Brisket Sandwich, every offering at New York Sub is a testament to carefully balanced tastes and robust textures. The Italian Beef sandwich, juicy and packed with melt-in-your-mouth meat complemented by house-made peppers and dipping juices, invites a messy, gratifying indulgence that true deli lovers adore.

If you're in the mood for something classic with a Texas twist, the Texas Club and the Texas Dog made from Texas-raised Angus beef serve up bold, hearty flavors, topped with chili, cheese, and fresh jalapeños that ignite your palate with just the right kick. Not to miss is their Chicago Dog, a revelation for those new to the style, featuring tender beef hot dogs topped with sauerkraut, chopped onions, and brown mustard, giving a taste of the Midwest right in Dallas.

Families will appreciate the thoughtful Kids' Menu, offering kid-sized subs customized to individual preferences, along with creamy homemade mac and cheese made from all-natural Wisconsin cheddar — a gooey delight that children (and adults) won’t easily forget.

What really sets New York Sub apart is the genuine feeling of nostalgia and authenticity present in every bite and interaction. The welcoming staff bring warmth and friendliness that transform each visit into more than just a meal — it’s a comforting experience reminiscent of classic neighborhood bodega delis from New York’s East Coast. This is reinforced by customers like Charles Venters Jr., who praises the “old deli Bodega” ambiance and generous servings, calling the French Dip a standout for its flavorful meat and rich dipping sauce.

Sean Lewis captures the essence best, appreciating how New York Sub offers a perfect blend of “out of the way places, nostalgia, great experience, and awesome food.” Meanwhile, Rachel Carr, initially skeptical about the authenticity often promised by “New York” branded eateries, was genuinely surprised: “There is NO reason these subs should be this good,” echoing the sentiment of a true New York native.

Whether you’re popping in for a quick lunch, looking for a sit-down spot with a casual vibe, or craving a filling and flavorful bite after a long day, New York Sub confidently delivers. Its thoughtfully curated menu of 19 sandwiches and salads, plus real-deal Frito pie and house-made chili, ensures you’re never far from a satisfying discovery. Don’t forget to treat yourself to a classic cookie or a refreshing Delaware Punch to complete your meal.

For an authentic taste of New York-style deli fare combined with Texas generosity and Southern hospitality, New York Sub is a culinary gem in Dallas that continues to win over loyal fans and newcomers alike.

As you know from all of my other reviews on food is I love out of way places/hole in the wall/nostalgia/great experience/awesome food. This place had a touch and a cornerstone of all of them and the sub was great. I went on a Friday post lunch around 1 and was about 10 people in front ordering or waiting. Ordering went great and price was bit more than a Jimmy John’s or Subway. The staff were friendly and a fine olive oiled machine! I got my order of an Italian half in about 10 minutes while I drank a tea/lemonade. I did see that the place was BYOB which that is awesome. Need to remember to grab a beer. The place takes me back to my early teen years with all the nostalgic games and decor. They have outside seating and very kid friendly. Even has a merry-go-round. The sub was perfect. Such great deli flavors of the meats and fresh veggies. Let me talk about the bread. If you ever had a field trip to a bread baker like Bairds or Rainbow as a kid and they give you that fresh bread off the conveyor belt. It’s the same feeling. Fresh and you can actually taste the artisan care to make that bread. It’s like no other sandwich shop. I’m happy to find this jewel in Highland Park. Drop me a like if you find this review helpful.

I couldn't decide, so I got the Chicago Dog. I never had one before. They have beef on the Hot Dog. The beef is out of this world. The hotdog is so good. I also got a cookie. That cookie was a perfect Semi-Sweet bite. I definitely will be coming back. They definitely need more reviews. This place is definitely a spot! Love the game section as well.

Highly recommend as one of the best sandwich shops in Dallas. A must try. Fresh ingredients prepared daily, friendly staff, good spot for dine-in / takeout.

I’m always been weary of restaurants with the name “New York” in them, as they usually turn out not to be very much like NY at all. I finally gave in when a tempting deal popped up on a food app. NY Sub exceeded my expectations in every way - the flavor was exceptional and the portion of meat was generous. My husband (a New Yorker himself) said, “There is NO reason these subs should be this good.” The atmosphere leaned more toward Chicago but it still worked. The fairly youthful staff impressed us with their friendliness and professionalism, a rare find in many eateries. We will be back.

Really enjoyed this experience. It was like an old deli Bodega from the east coast. All the sandwiches are pretty simple but are really made with good quality products. My favorite is the French Dip because of the taste, amount of meat, peppers & dip sauce. A little messy but SO GOOD. We've had about 4 different sandwiches & they've all been really good. You also have the option to have the sandwiches toasted too.
